News regarding Mike
Burtch's Recovery:
Mike's January 17th doctor visit
went well. He can now put as much weight on his legs as he can
stand. He will be doing physical therapy everyday for 6 weeks.
Mike said that when he stood up, he'd forgotten how to walk because
the calves of his legs were so week. Mike is optimistic that
he'll be working on his boat in 8 weeks! Of course that's what he's
hoping to do and your friends in Point Yacht Club are looking
forward to seeing you there! Way to go, Mike!!
Mike Burtch
(CP614) fell 12 feet off a roof on October 14th and sustained compact fractures
in both legs. Mike was in Grant Hospital Trauma Center for over 3
weeks, where he had to undergo several surgeries. He then went
to a skilled rehab facility where they were able to
control his pain and do rehab for him. He was released from
the rehab facility on November 22nd. A ramp was built for
their home and Mike uses an electric wheelchair to get around.
He has a long way to go---full
recovery time is about one and a half years. Mike and Carol
want to thank everyone for thinking of them.
Carol passed on this message: "We have received many
cards from our amazing wonderful friends. Along with many prayers to
God for us. Please thank them from the bottom of our hearts."
